Tra môr, tra Meirion - While the sea lasts, so shall Meirionnydd
The motto of the old welsh county of Meirionnydd. The county name may have disappeared but our scenic hills, woods and beaches remain, and now a running club helps spread the fame of this beautiful land.
Club aims.
The idea for the club was first conceived in Lanzarote in 2005 and established in Dolgellau in 2006.
The objective is to arrange races and promote amateur athletics. The club is open to members from the age of 11 years and upwards. We are affiliated to Welsh Athletics for road, fell, and cross country events. We organise championships, enter leagues and team competitions, arrange social runs, training sessions, talks, demonstrations and social events. But mostly we run! We run for fun and we encourage members -and others- to discover that running makes you feel better, helps you explore our beautiful area, meet like-minded people, maybe discover that competition can be fun at any level, and that excellence is within the reach of all who want it.
We are a small club based in the south of Eryri National Park, Wales. We cater for all abilities of runners, joggers and social members. Our membership now is spread over North Wales and further afield from London to Northumbria. Our teams are achieving great results at UK, National and regional levels and we have athletes who have been selected for Welsh caps.
From total beginners to international runners, the club offers a range of opportunities for social events, training nights, races and trips away to far flung places, from Machynlleth to Morroco, Penmaenpool to Prague the possibilities are endless.
