Many of our members enjoy parkrun, both locally and further afield, and we’d love to encourage anyone who is curious to give it a go. parkrun is a free, friendly 5k community event every Saturday morning where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer, or simply come along to support. It is open to all abilities, there is no time limit, and nobody finishes last — the emphasis is on taking part, enjoying the company, and moving in whatever way feels right for you.

On the last Saturday of every month, Bala also hosts a 5K Your Way group as part of Move Against Cancer. 5K Your Way is for anyone impacted by cancer, including family, friends, carers and healthcare professionals, and you can walk, jog, run, cheer, volunteer, join for coffee, or do as much or as little of the 5k as you wish. It is all about support, confidence, friendship and moving your way.

These events only happen because of volunteers. If running or walking does not feel right for you on a particular day, volunteering is a brilliant way to be involved, meet people and help create the warm welcome that makes parkrun and 5K Your Way so special. There are lots of simple roles, no experience is needed, and someone will show you what to do.
