Tuesday Night Social Runs

Tuesday night is our social run night and it’s all about getting people running together. You don’t need to be a club member to come along at first — feel free to join us for a few weeks, get a feel for the group, and then decide whether you’d like to become a full member or a social member. You don’t need to be fast either; everyone is welcome, whatever your pace, experience, or confidence level. Whether you’re new to running, coming back after a break, looking for company on local routes, or simply keen to enjoy a friendly run with others, we’d love you to join us.

From November to March, when the evenings are darker, we meet at two regular run hubs: Dolgellau Leisure Centre and the Green Car Park in Bala. Runs start at 6.30pm and are usually around 4 or 5 miles, although sessions may also include training activities such as fartleks, negative splits or other varied run formats. Please wear reflective clothing and bring a headtorch during the winter months.

During the lighter evenings, from April to September, we meet at a variety of locations around the surrounding countryside and make the most of our beautiful local landscape. Routes may be wet, muddy or uneven, so trail shoes are recommended. Venues are chosen wherever possible so that shorter and longer routes can be run from the same place, helping everyone take part at a distance and pace that suits them.

These runs are relaxed, sociable and supportive, and they are a great way to discover new routes, meet other runners and enjoy running as part of a group. If transport is a problem, please let someone know and we’ll do our best to help arrange a lift. For weekly details, meeting points and any updates, please check the club Facebook page (Members only) or register with one of the run leaders to receive updates. For Dolgellau, please contact Kevin Evans; for Bala, please contact Gerald Cooper at welfaremen@meirionnydd.com. All you need is your kit, your trainers and a willingness to give it a go — the more the merrier!
