A packed weekend for the Goats across Eryri

It was a busy weekend of racing for Meirionnydd Running Club, with members taking on mountain trails, a castle-side half marathon and the challenge of Triathlon y Bala. From the rugged Sea2Sky routes out of Barmouth to fast performances in Caernarfon, there was plenty to celebrate across North Wales.

Saturday’s racing centred on the Snowdonia Sea2Sky, where runners tackled demanding trail routes from the coast at Barmouth into the mountains of Eryri, with 12k, 25k and 54k options on offer.

There were strong performances across the distances. In the 12k, Nia Evans finished 89th overall in 2:39:18 and placed second in the V55 category. The 25k saw James Raymond lead the Goats home in 10th overall, with Alec Rattray also impressing by taking first place in the V60 category. Gethin Williams added another category win with first V55, while Sian Evans placed third V35 and Helen Jones third V55. In the 54k, Gareth Hughes completed the ultra-distance route in 7:07:51, with Juliet Edwards taking first V60 and Nick Ratcliffe also completing the mountain challenge.
